After having blindly placing this CD into the player, I thought it may perhaps be new material from James Blunt. Slow, Metronomic chords, a slightly nasal voice and acoustic guitar with more production than is necessary for 5 albums. In some ways I wish it were a James Blunt single as he, at least, has a little amount of creativity.

The major problem with this track is not the lyrics, these are actually a poignantly observed study of an old man drinking by himself in a bar. In fact there are even some nice images and turns of phrase.

The lyrics, however, are let down by the absolute abomination commited from everybody else involved with this track. They have entirely ripped off ‘Iris’ by the Goo Goo Dolls, to such an extent that if your mind was to wander from the lyrics for a second you would start singing

“And I don't want the world to see me
Cause I don't think that they'd understand”

It is a true embarrassment to the band that this song borrows so heavily from another and then proceeds to make a far more slimy and dull version of it. The production is so far over the top you wonder whether it could actually be classed as ‘Muzak’.

In a way this is a tragedy as the lyrics are great, in another, more simple way, this is just an embarrassment to music.
