Taking influence from Eels and Nada Surf, Rogue Waves new single ‘Like I Needed’ is a serving of Alt Americana flashing with rock pulses and orchestral guitar swells. It’s 3 minutes of existence disappear quickly, filled with cymbal tinkling drums and vocals heavily reminiscent of Matthew Caws of Nada Surf. The track is mixed and mastered to perfection, vocals sliding over each other, guitars punctuating over and under vocals like a complex cog filled automobile firing on all cylinders. Taken from the Beach Boys school of songwriting the vocal harmonies swell and crash over each other like the North Californian shoreline and the guitar underplays its ever ambitious scaling melody.
