Babyshambles - You Talk

Format: Single
Release Date: 3rd Dec 2007
Label: EMI
Rating:

Babyshambles follow up their Top 10 single 'Delivery' with the slightly less impressive 'You Talk'.

With 'Delivery' Babyshambles had produced a driving Kinks-esque rock and roll song of the highest pedigree, the follow up single unfortunately falls a little flat. The fact that this song was co-written with Kate Moss should immediately set alarm bells ringing, regardless of tabloid stories, should a musician be writing songs with a model?

Perhaps not on this showing. There appears to be little in the way of a resounding chorus that made 'Delivery' such a hit and Docherty's lack of ennunciation doesn't help in getting the lyrics' message across. Musically this is a solid track bordering on inventive with the drums keeping the track alive with rushing rhyhtmns and rolls, but is ultimately let down by the vocals and lyrics.
